N8N UI has stopped working for me almost entirely

Describe the problem/error/question

I was in the process of editing a workflow and suddenly i couldn’t open any nodes any more. I tried to reload the page and most of the nodes no longer load (i.e. they are just shapes). I tried to create a new workflow and was unable to add any nodes there either. I tried restarting the space, a different browser, restart computer and upgrading n8n versions but all this the same. I’ve noticed that when i first go into the workflow now i do see the “connection lost” error briefly but then it goes away and the nothing else has changed. Open Developer tools and see a 503.

I’ve tried posting this twice in the github bugs and was told the first time I hadn’t filled out the template which was false. The second time I posted I got rejected again and was told this was more of a question for this community, which I also don’t understand. Clearly I’d like to get this solved but am also really curious how this doesn’t classify as a bug.

What is the error message (if any)?

Unable to share this as i can't do anything in the UI other than move blank nodes around

Information on your n8n setup

  • n8n version: 2.1.3
  • Database (default: SQLite):
  • n8n EXECUTIONS_PROCESS setting (default: own, main):
  • Running n8n via (Docker, npm, n8n cloud, desktop app): n8n cloud
  • Operating system: Windows 11 home

Go to the N8N admin panel and restart the instance, which you already tried but might fix possibly. If that isnt working then reset your browsers cache and ensure it’s updated.
