Issues using OpenRouter Chat Model node – "Provider returned error" & workflow failing unexpectedly

I’ve been facing some issues while trying to use the OpenRouter Chat Model node in n8n. At first, I encountered the following error when using paid models:

“Provider returned error”

After some digging, I read that this could be related to provider overload — which, while not ideal, is at least understandable.

However, today a separate issue popped up. I tried running a different workflow (which had worked perfectly yesterday). As you can see in the image below, the error occurs during the second iteration of the node — the first one runs just fine, but the second crashes and now I’m getting this error:

I’ve already double-checked my credentials and setup — everything seems correct on that end. I haven’t made any changes to the workflow or credentials between yesterday and today.

Is anyone else experiencing this? :thinking:
Could this be related to a temporary service outage or a change on OpenRouter’s end?

this indeed seems like there was an outage on OpenRouter side. It works fine for me now:
