Hi, I am hoping for some advice on getting independent users up and running on an abstraction I have built around n8n. n8n functions as functions as a micro-service in many use cases. Many of these users will be very tech adverse, hence the abstraction. I would like sign them up with n8n as users of my software project. However, they will not be on my instance, but on their own with the ability to host it however they want. I did not see how to do something like this in the docs, which seem always about sharing instances in teams. Thanks for the help.
What is the error message (if any)?
Please share your workflow
(Select the nodes on your canvas and use the keyboard shortcuts CMD+C/CTRL+C and CMD+V/CTRL+V to copy and paste the workflow.)
The customization required will largely depend on how you want to set up your abstraction, but the source code is available which you can fork and customize to your wishes.
@aya Holy hell! Starting at $50,000 USD a year to embed n8n? Last I read up on this I saw language about not starting to charge developers until they made a certain amount of profit (I think I recall $30,000). What happened to this?
I’m not sure where I fit in here. I don’t want to white list or host. It is more inline with what you might see on skillshare/fiverr/upwork/podia where I will offer integrated routines and tutorials. I hope these people don’t all owe n8n $50,000 lol.
In my case, it will still be n8n, so any folks who want hosting or organizational uptake will have to go through n8n. However, I will simplify things even further for my target user is not IT or programmers. This is what I mean about abstraction. I was thinking even of electronjs but I see n8n already did this and abandoned it, which makes me question the approach. Anyways, please let me know about the $$ matter, thanks.
The old 30k revenue based side of things was from before we changed the license and made it more available for those offering professional services around n8n rather than embedding n8n their own product.
If you are just selling tutorials / courses / services around n8n but not charging users to access n8n or hosting it for them you are free to do this. Can you go into more detail on what your extra layer acutally is?
The “old 30k revenue” approached at least seemed to fit a concept of “fair/sustainable use” which all comers should be able to appreciate. Asking 50k up front wipes that out completely, as no independent developer is going to front it. You also missed an opportunity to rebrand the n8n community as the n8n caste system, with the developer at the bottom.
I am going in a different direction AI-wise then n8n, and the users I am hoping to reach aren’t users you target. Aspects of the AI implementation will need to be what faces the user.
