The End of Answer & Earn

TL;DR:

We’re stopping the Answer & Earn program as of October 1. We’re in a better place right now, and the program is creating more problems for the community than it solves.

Why did we start Answer & Earn?

Back in February 2025, n8n spiked massively - many new users discovered us and we saw so much forum traffic that the majority of questions were left unanswered. We did not have team capacity to handle all these questions and users were left frustrated, so we looked towards our community for help.

By adding a leaderboard to the forum we were able to track who made the most contributions, and we decided to reward the monthly ‘winners’ financially. This worked really well, and we quickly returned to a situation where all questions were answered.

The situation now

Fast forward almost two years though, and we’re in a different situation with our company: the forum traffic has stabilized, questions are also getting answered without the Answer & Earn program, and our Support team is able to dedicate time every working day to answer your questions. And this is new - originally, we treated the Community Edition support as ‘for the community, by the community’.

The problems of the program

The introduction of a financial reward in a community always leads to issues. In our case, scammers discovered the program and we saw many examples of ‘point farming’ by users creating multiple accounts and answering themselves and of using AI to create (often incorrect) answers. This was taking on such proportions that the ‘forum experience’ was starting to suffer.

Really, you have no idea how much time we had to spend to fight this - time we’d rather spend on more helpful and positive activities.

Going forward

So where does this leave us?

We still love the competition element - it’s fun and useful! Going forward, we’ll keep the monthly leaderboard and will start awarding monthly badges that you can ‘collect’ in your account. This is a great way to show your n8n expertise, but it also helps us identify strong forum users that we’d like to work closer with. Our Community Moderator @Anshul_Namdev is a great example of this - he was consistently at the top of the leaderboard early this year and he’s now helping us with the forum and the Ambassador program. This can be you too!

Before we go, a huge thank you to our most proficient forum supporters - you’ve been amazing and really helped us through a difficult time on the forum. I hope we can still count on your help going forward!

As an extra thank-you, here’s a special ‘2026 yearly leaderboard’ that highlights our top contributors this year, and I’d like to shout out to each of them for being amazing community members:

@Anshul_Namdev @achamm @kjooleng @tamy.santos @mohamed3nan @Niffzy @nguyenthieutoan @A_A4 @Wouter_Nigrini @barn4k @Stanleyy @sergeys @Deepankar @houda_ben @Merrill @daniel_Samuel @Emmas @ShawnWilliams @Haian_Abou-Karam @Hovec @Ayomide_Breakthrough @Keira_Becky @Mayank1024 @Lopez @salmansolutions @Joy_Ful

Thanks @bartv and the n8n team..
This program came at exactly the right time,

I jumped in during the early-2025 rush, and it quickly became a daily habit, It was a two-way exchange: I helped where I could, and solving real problems every day made me much better with n8n,

Along the way I met many great people and learned a lot from them, some have since joined the n8n team, and others have become close friends and colleagues,

I fully support the decision. I’ve seen firsthand how things shifted, especially in early 2026, As AI tools got good enough to solve so many problems, the gaming became widespread, and it started pushing away the people who genuinely wanted to contribute, answer quality matters more than rewards.

Congrats to everyone who enjoyed contributing and helping others.
Proud to have been part of this community.

I joined the community back on December 1st, 2025, initially just curious about what n8n was… and that’s where the journey started! It’s been an absolute blast learning, building, and being a part of this amazing community. Really grateful to be here! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

I joined back in August 2021 and I wish this was a thing back then although maybe I got one of the best rewards , it has been amazing to see how much the community has evolved and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

It’s been great reading through older threads and seeing how much knowledge has been built up here over the years. Huge thanks to everyone who’s contributed along the way. Looking forward to learning more and hopefully helping others as I gain experience too. :raising_hands:

@bartv I support this! It’s an honor to help this forum, and money or no money, I’ll still be helping! I hope this will strengthen our community even more, we don’t need rewards, we need nodes!

I believe there is a 1 year expiry from date of issue.

When one door closes, another opens…
Join the weekly community challenge. It is very interesting.
Language and wordings used can be pretty cryptic though…

Makes sense, and thanks for being open about the reasons. Monthly badges sound like a better fit for what the forum should be: people helping because they’ve actually hit the same problem. Will the badges also show on the profile, so it’s easy to see who has been consistently helpful over time?
