Why can't I access my n8n API?

When i go to the n8n API key in the settings, I can’t see or copy the API key and the ability to create a new API key is grayed out. How do I fix this?

I am trying to install the n8n MCP on claude desktop.

Information on your n8n setup

  • n8n version: community version. 1.82.3
  • Database (default: SQLite): don’t know, probs default
  • n8n EXECUTIONS_PROCESS setting (default: own, main):
  • Running n8n via (Docker, npm, n8n cloud, desktop app): digital ocean, docker, caddy (hosted at: https://n8n.symphony-of-soul.com/)
  • Operating system: mac (macbook air m1)

Try deleting the current API key and generating a new one.
