Workflow could not be activated: External hook "workflow.activate"failed

I’ve created a few workflows, and they’ve been working perfectly beforehand. However, now they are not functioning properly. I get the error message:

"Workflow could not be activated: External hook “workflow.activate"failed”

I have tried logging in and out, deleting cache. I have less than 2 workflows active so that shouldn’t be the problem.

The workflow was working fine before. I also tried copying the old workflow which was working.

Even gives the same error when just using a manual trigger. Very strange.

The same issue appears to have been reported here. One of the comments on that ticket suggests restarting the (cloud) instance (workspace). Did you try that here?

This was likely a case of hitting the instance’s max active workflows limit.
If you upgrade to the latest version, the error should be clearer.
