Replacing the RSS Read node for Reddit before Nov 13

Hi all, sharing this in case it saves someone a broken workflow. Reddit is switching off its RSS feeds on 13 November 2026. Workflows that read a subreddit or a Reddit search through the RSS Read node will stop returning items that day, usually without an error you would notice.

Disclosure first: I’m the founder of prolevelmax.com, which is the data source used below. If you already have Reddit API access set up, the built-in Reddit node is the cheaper route and you don’t need any of this. The steps here are for people who relied on RSS because they never got API access.

The idea is to replace the RSS Read node with one HTTP Request node, so everything after it keeps working.

1. Get an API key
Create an account at prolevelmax.com. New accounts get $1 of credit after verifying their email, which covers a few hundred Reddit search calls. Create a key in the dashboard and set a daily spend limit on it.

2. Replace the RSS Read node with an HTTP Request node

  • Method: POST
  • URL: https://prolevelmax.com/v1/run
  • Header: Authorization: Bearer <your key>
  • Body (JSON):
{
  "scraper": "procli_reddit_d",
  "input": {
    "query": "\"your keyword\"",
    "search_type": "post",
    "sort": "NEW",
    "time_range": "day",
    "need_format": true
  }
}

Keep the escaped quotes inside query if you want an exact phrase match.

3. Split the results
Add a Split Out node on the items field. Each item has a post object with postTitle, permalink, score, commentCount and createdAt, which map onto the title, link and date fields you were using from RSS. Prefix permalink with https://www.reddit.com to get the full URL. Every response also includes a CSV download link if you only need a file.

4. Optional: pull the comments
RSS never gave you comments. A second HTTP Request with this body returns one page of a thread with author, score and text:

{
  "scraper": "procli_reddit_b",
  "input": { "post_id": "t3_<id>", "sort_type": "TOP" }
}

Cost and limits
Reddit calls are billed per call from a prepaid balance, from $0.003. POST /v1/inspect returns a quote before anything runs, and the daily limit on the key stops a loop from spending more than you set.

A small Python version of the same steps is on GitHub: GitHub - tophmeee/reddit-to-csv: Search Reddit and export posts and comment threads to CSV with the ProLevelMax API. No Reddit API key needed. · GitHub

This is my first post here, so if anything is unclear, or there’s a better way to do this in n8n, I’d really appreciate hearing it. Happy to help if something in your existing RSS workflow doesn’t map cleanly too :slight_smile:
