i am trying to split out a string array, but n8n says “[ERROR: Can’t determine which item to use]”

What is the error message (if any)?

The “Fields to Split Out” is expected to be the field name that you want to split. By using an expression you are actually giving the value of that field. Hence n8n tells you that the key (field) with such a name does not exist.
