Cloud vs Self-Hosted - "basic" version limiations?

Hey,

Looking at: n8n pricing

The “community” (i.e. self-hosted) version reads “A basic version of n8n is available on GitHub”
And, the Enterprise pricing model is marked as "Self-hosted (or hosted by n8n).

What is the difference between the free community version (if I was to use the docker image docker.n8n.io/n8nio/n8n), and the Hosted versions Starter & Pro?

And what is the difference between a self-hosted Enterprise plan and the free community version?

By “difference” I’m moreso meaning features available. I know self hosted means no auto updates etc etc, it’s the fact the “Community” version has the subheading “A basic version of…” that’s got me wondering if it’s feature limited.

Thanks!
Rob

In the Self Hosted version, We still get Unlimited Workflows, Unlimited Executions, and all the core functionality.

What you’ll miss is:

  • Collaborate on workflows
  • Execution search
  • Global variables
  • SSO SAML and LDAP
  • Log streaming
  • Environments
  • Version control using Git
  • External secret store integration

These features are optional and don’t impact much on the core usage of n8n. If you feel missing it. Try the Starter or Pro version.
